What are theses bags ?

The most efficient barrier!

The water gel bag are innovative, entirely biodegradable and compostable jute bags (see video) that contain a polymer which transforms into a gel when submerged in water. The bags expand in 5 minutes, retain their shape and enable users to erect a protective barrier quickly and easily. Once inflated, the bags can be stored in this form and reused later until the end of the useful life of the bags (link).

40 standards bags will protect :

a patio door, an entrance door and 4 ground level windows against

 a water level of 10 cm or 4 po.

 The water gel bag is a substitute for sand bags of higher quality that weight twice as less. You always get the same shape and malleable bag that allows you to optimize the conception and the construction of any protective barrier, whether in a case of a flood, fire or for any other pratical engineering need.

Two variables to remember :

(L) the lenght requiring protection

and

(H) the height to protect against water levels.

Inflate more than 100 bags, build a protective barrier and keep smiling at the end of the day become possible for a single person with the water gel bag!

Difficult to say the same with sandbags...

And just imagine as fast you can go if you have help an a lot of accessible water (usually not a problem in case of a flood) as shown in the next video!

Applications examples

Whether intended for residential, commercial or industrial sector, construction industry or agriculture use;

Whether intended for government, municipal or emergency service providers;

Whether intended for insurance purposes;

Our imagination is the limit.

Some possibles examples:

Redirect a small watercourse, create a retention basin, create a dry dock, protecting a lake sediments spills during construction of a road, creation of a dam to protect a garage, a door, a windows or a specific field zone for your big outside events or shows, contain an oil spill, protect a sump pump in a crawlspace or in your basement, for drain protection, sewer protection, a barrier for a gas leak, for a hunter cache, for a painball field, protect a mine from the water accumulation or to contain the tailing ponds leaching, a ptotective wall for forest fire, use for holding a tripod or tarpaulin, etc.

Environment advantages

And after, what to do with the bags?

Water gel bags are made of 100% recyclable organic materials and are readily compostable.

They pose no problems whatsoever in terms of normal residual waste collection. So you can dispose them as usual or at the facilities provided for this purpose. They do, however, provide for enhanced recovery and reuse possibilities.

They considerably reduce the need for construction sand and generate gains in an emergency by reducing transport-related energy costs.

OUR VISION:

Water gel bags are likely to become a standard ?

Don't  just take our word for it:

  • Water-related damage is one of the leading causes of claims with insurers nationwide www.infoinsurance.ca

Following are the primary reasons justifying the use of water gel bags :

1- Technical benefits

The water gel bags take up precious little space. They are easy to store in large quantities to be certain to have on hand in the event of an emergency. Under normal storage conditions (vacuum sealed bags in box protected from humidity and sunlight), minimum product life is estimated at 5 years. Once inflated, the bags can be stored in this form and reused later until the end of the useful life of the bags. Depending of how they are used, it is set at three months minimum, but usually, it will be more.

Water gel bags are lightweight and easier to transport to sites requiring protective intervention, thereby resulting in reduced handling and transport costs. Even in situations where the bags must be previously expanded, they provide net gains from the dual standpoint of weight and handling compared with traditional sand bags. They are also easier to remove and dispose of after use.

Water gel bags are simpler, faster and more effective to use. They require only water to activate expansion (drinking water or natural source water). Multiple bags can be expanded simultaneously in the event of an emergency to accelerate the intervention process. Each bag requires only a sufficient volume of water (suggested minimum of 30 litres or 7 US gallons). When water gel bags are expanded in accordance with the optimal expansion technique, they are fully expanded and ready for deployment in just 5 minutes.

Water gel bags provide a standardized shape and allow for building block type construction. Despite the evident simplicity, users enjoy considerable latitude in erecting the desired type of barrier and adapting it to field conditions.

Water gel bags, once expanded, require minimal physical handling effort. Users need only be able to lift the weight of the water required to expand the bags, which is to say about 15 kg or 33 lb.

Water gel bags require less manpower for deployment. A single individual can erect a flood barrier with much less effort and in considerably less time.

Water gel bags are usable year round, indoors and out.

2- Health and safety benefits

Water gel bags help minimize the risk of injury associated with handling heavy loads. Water gel bags are certain to substantiate their worth in the warehouse and in the field no matter how many are required to erect a flood barrier. Energy expended and physical fatigue are important aspects that individuals and employers alike need to take into account.

Water gel bags are handy, additional tools that individuals, companies and public authorities would be well advised to include in emergency measures plans.

3- Costs benefits

Water gel bags globally cost you less. You save on the purchasing, the storage, the transport, the manpower, the material resources and when it is time to dispose of them. More, you save time...
